Nepheronia buquetii


There is every reason why this butterfly is called the Green-eyed Monster. I found it at Bisley NR. When disturbed it would fly off a short distance then settle low in the scrub, well camouflaged and difficult to pick up again. Look at the green berries in the background.

I had another record, also from Bisley, warming itself against an early morning sun and not caring about my presence. It's on a wing and a prayer, but still attractive contre-jour.
